❤️ Why you'll love it
Delicious finger food: these are the perfect appetizer for parties from game day to holidays.
Great use of leftover turkey: these are great game day sandwiches to make with any leftover Thanksgiving turkey!
Everyone loves them: the sweet and savory flavors in these oven baked sandwiches are addictingly delicious.
🥘 Ingredients
Turkey: you can use deli turkey or any leftover turkey from a previous meal.
Hawaiian sweet rolls: these are the perfect side for these delicious sliders and the slight sweetness in the roll compliments all the flavors.
Cheese: I like to use a mild cheese so I went with havarti, but you can use a white cheddar cheese or gouda if you wish.
Bacon: If I am going to put bacon in a sandwich, I am going to use thick cut, which is what I did. I highly recommend it because it packs flavor and texture.
Sweet and Hot Salad Peppers: the traditional Kentucky Hot Brown usually is served with tomato. I skipped the tomato and used these sweet and hot salad peppers from Mt. Olive.
Mayonnaise: I use Hellmans, it's what I grew up with. Dukes is another good mayo. I do not recommend miracle whip for this recipe (or really any other recipe!)
Honey dijon mustard: I like the hint of honey in the mayonnaise sauce, you can use regular dijon mustard if you don't want the honey flavor.
Garlic powder: flavors the butter sauce that is brushed on tops of the rolls.
Brown sugar: I like to use the light brown sugar.
Minced onion: use fresh or dried.
🔪 Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Slice the slider rolls in half using a serrated edge knife. Place the bottom halves of the rolls in a baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
- Lay half of the cheese slices over the bottom roll half, then add a layer of cheese, a layer of turkey slices, salad peppers, and crispy cooked bacon. Top with the remaining cheese and set aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and mustard. Spread the mayo mixture on the cut side of the top portion of the rolls. Place cut side down on top of the final cheese layer of the sandwiches.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan (or microwave). Stir in the brown sugar and minced onion pieces. Brush the butter mixture over the tops of the rolls.
- Cover rolls with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and return sliders back to the oven and bake 5 minutes more, until tops of the rolls are golden brown and cheese is melty.

📖 Variations
- Stick with the traditional flavors and use diced roma tomatoes or pimentos in place of the sweet hot peppers.
- If desired omit the garlic powder and add ½ teaspoon worcestershire sauce to the butter sauce.
- Use any of your favorite deli meat, you can use roast beef, ham, or chicken in place of the turkey.
💭 Tips
- For convenience and to save time, use pre-cooked bacon strips
