A Special Sauce for Topping or Dipping
I have had a long love affair with dill. I love it in my pickles (try these Garlic Dill Pickles, a family recipe from my dad's sister). And, I also love it in my potato salad!
I also am a fan of using smoked paprika. It is one of my favorite spices, so it made sense that I would try it in my dill sauce recipe! I love the light smoky flavor it adds along with the little bit of color.
🥘 Ingredients
Mayonnaise is the base for this sauce. My preferred brand is this one.
Greek Yogurt is used to help lighten up the mayonnaise some and give it a creamy texture.
Fresh Dill, this can't be beat. I love using fresh dill and plenty of it!
Smoked Paprika lends a little bit smoky flavor to this dill sauce as well as a little bit of color.
Garlic cloves give this dill sauce a tiny bite while the lemon juice will add the tang. A tasty combination of flavors!
💭 Top Tips
- To make the sauce thicker, use just 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
- If you're looking for a runnier dill sauce, you can thin it out with a tablespoon of milk.
- Substitute sour cream for the Greek yogurt.
- Use 2 teaspoons of dried dill weed in place of the fresh dill.
- If smoky flavors aren't your thing, it is ok to leave out the smoked paprika.
- Make it lower fat and use reduced fat mayonnaise instead of regular mayonnaise.
- Use greek yogurt in place of the mayonnaise.
