Campfire marshmallows: I LOVE these square jumbo marshmallows. They are built for a s'more, but are perfect for making a hot chocolate marshmallow topper!
Chocolate almond bark: this melts super smooth and is perfect for dipping. You can also use white almond bark.
Peppermint candy canes: I buy the candy canes and just crush them myself.

- Place candy canes in a ziploc bag. Using a mallet, gently crush candy into smaller pieces.
- Place 4 large squares of candy melt in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 60 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir.
- Microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring between each interval, until chocolate is smooth.
- Once chocolate is smooth, add peppermint extract and stir until incorporated.
- Dip one half of the marshmallow in chocolate; place the chocolate side up on a parchment paper lined sheet pan.
- Sprinkle with crushed peppermint bits while chocolate is still wet. Repeat with marshmallows and chocolate.
- Store in an airtight container.

🥄 Equipment
Microwave safe mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
Ziploc bags
Meat mallet (to crush the peppermint)
🥫Storage
Room temperature: store hot cocoa toppers in an airtight container up to 2 months
📖 Variations
- Substitute delicious dark chocolate chips in place of the chocolate melts. Follow the instructions on the packaging for directions on how to melt.
- Cut the marshmallows with star-shaped cookie cutters for Christmas or into heart shapes for Valentine’s day.

💭 Pro Tip
- If using a flavoring, be sure it is oil based. Anything not oil based may seize the chocolate.
