Big Mac Sloppy Joes are a fun twist on the McDonald's classic sandwich as a sloppy joe recipe. They make a great quick easy weeknight dinner recipe the whole family will love.

    ❤️ Why you'll love it

Easy ground beef dinner recipe: The big mac sloppy joe is a one-pan meal with take out flavors that uses minced beef!

It's a family favorite: this take on the classic sloppy joe will become a meal the whole family will love.

Quick and easy: this big mac sloppy joes recipe is ready in under 30 minutes.

    Ingredients for sloppy joes.
Just a few ingredients makes a delicious copycat Big Mac in sloppy joe form!
Raw onions in a skillet with olive oil.
McDonald's uses a dehydrated minced onion that has been rehydrated by adding water. This recipe bring the freshest ingredients to the table.
Breaking down the ground beef with a meat mashing tool.
A meat masher does an excellent job of breaking down the ground beef!

Cooking the beef and onion together adds great flavor!

    🥘 Ingredients

Lean ground beef: use at least 85/15 ratio and be sure to drain any excess fat off once the beef is browned if needed.

White or yellow onion: McDonald's uses dried minced onion that they rehydrate with water, but we will go with fresh minced onion!

Olive oil: only a little is needed to saute the onion.

Chopped pickles: I always have these homemade garlic dill pickles on hand, but store bought pickles will work also.

Thousand Island dressing: McDonald's special sauce is very similar to thousand island dressing. You can buy store bought or you can make your own Thousand Island Dressing.

Cheddar cheese: while McDonald's uses a slice of American cheese, I went with cheddar because that is what I usually have on hand. If you like the american cheese flavor, try Velveeta shreds.

Shredded lettuce: I use either romaine or iceberg lettuce and shred it with

Hamburger buns: you can make your own hamburger buns or buy your favorite brand. McDonalds uses a toasted sesame seed bun.

Cooked ground beef with onion and diced pickles.
Diced pickles are stirred into the beef mixture to get that pickle flavor in every bite!.
Pouring thousand island dressing into the meat mixture.
Thousand Island Dressing is a pretty close match to the Big Mac Special Sauce!

    🔪 Instructions

    1. Heat the olive oil In a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Add the onion and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
    2. Place beef in skillet with onions and crumble beef using a meat masher. Season with salt and pepper and cook for 7 minutes, until beef has browned and is cooked through. Drain any excess grease from the ground beef pan and discard.
    3. While meat mixture is cooking, toast buns, cut side down, on a hot griddle until golden brown.
    4. Remove ground beef mixture from heat and stir in the diced pickles, thousand island dressing, and cheddar cheese.
    5. Place bottom bun on a plate and scoop ½ cup filling on the bottom bun, top with shredded lettuce and the top bun.
