❤️ Why you'll love it
Healthy Food: you will get the fried chicken effect without deep frying the chicken in oil
Easy air fryer recipe: made with simple ingredients, this delicious meal is a great option for busy weeknights
Short cooking time: you will have a healthy dinner in just 20 minutes!

🥘 Ingredients
Fresh broccoli: buy broccoli crowns for this recipe. It will need to be cut into bite-sized broccoli florets.
Chicken breast: this will be cut into smaller pieces and coated in seasoned cornstarch
Salt, black pepper, and garlic powder: to season the cornstarch coating
Cornstarch: used to coat the outside of the chicken pieces to give them a crisp exterior.
Hoisin sauce: this is basically an Asian ketchup, you can use black bean sauce or teriyaki sauce if you do not have hoisin sauce.
Fresh ginger: freshly minced ginger root adds great flavor (and is great for digestion!)
Apple cider vinegar: provides an acid balance to the sauce.
Soy sauce: adds flavor and saltiness
Raw honey: adds a little bit of sweetness and enhances the flavor of the sauce.
Sesame seeds (optional): used as a garnish on the finished product.
Olive oil cooking spray:

🔪 Instructions
- Cut the broccoli and chicken into small bite-size pieces. Keep in separate bowls.
- Add the cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to a gallon-sized storage bag and shake to mix.
- Gradually add the chicken to the bag of cornstarch in three batch, shaking the bag after adding each batch.
- Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add breaded chicken to air fryer basket or trays and then spray top of chicken with oil.
- Air fry at 400° for 12-15 minutes until crispy and golden.
- While the chicken is cooking, add the broccoli to a microwave-safe bowl with 1 tablespoon of water, cover, and microwave for 3 minutes until slightly tender and bright colored. Drain broccoli and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the hoisin, honey, ginger, vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir to combine and bring to a boil. Let boil for 1 minute then remove from heat. Set aside.
- Add cooked chicken to a mixing bowl with the broccoli. Pour sauce over the chicken mixture and toss gently until chicken and broccoli are fully coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds (if using).

🥄 Equipment
Air fryer: I have used a basket air fryer and an air fryer with trays. Both styles do an excellent job of cooking the chicken.
Large bowl: you will need a total of 2 bowls, one for the raw chicken and one for the prepped broccoli. You can use the broccoli bowl to mix the cooked chicken and broccoli together.
Cutting board: for chopping the broccoli and chicken.
Medium saucepan: to make the sauce.
Microwave safe dish (or steamer): to steam the broccoli
🥫Storage
Refrigerate: store any leftover stir fry in an airtight container in the fridge up to 5 days.
Reheat: reheat in the air fryer at 350 degrees for 5 min minutes.
📖 Variations
- Make this a low carb and lower-calorie option and eliminate the cornstarch and use a sugar-free brown sugar in place of honey to reduce carbs from 35 net carbs to 12 net carbs. Serve with a side of cauliflower rice.
- Substitute the chicken breast for boneless skinless chicken thighs.
- Add some color and steam some strips of red bell peppers with the broccoli.
💭 Tips
- Pat the chicken dry before adding to the cornstarch mixture to prevent clumping of cornstarch.
- For better results, coat the chicken with the cornstarch mixture in 3 batches to allow for even coating.
